January Favorites
January is always a strange month for me. With the new year starting on January 1 and my birthday on January 31, it’s almost as if I get a fresh start twice. The new year usually has me thinking about more outward-facing goals, for things like work and school. My birthday gets me thinking about my more personal aspirations. In both cases I find myself using this time of year to revamp my style, my self-care routine, and add some oomph to dinner.
My January favorites list has everything from old favorites to new finds.
Trader Joe’s Cedar-Wrapped BBQ Salmon – This is was a great find for me. I believe it has come around before and I’m lucky to have noticed it this time. I decided to try one serving and went back the next week for two! The salmon itself was so good and they managed to get that smoky flavor. The best part is that it was only $4.99!
Shallot Garlic Bread – I have been eating this bread with creamy tomato soup (Trader Joe’s) and lobster bisque (Whole Foods). It has been making my simple meals feel decadent.
Farmacy Honey Halo Moisturizer – I stumbled across a sample of this moisturizer during the Sephora holiday sales and immediately loved it and had to have it. It was so good that I could not even wait for the next sale. Usually, I go for water/gel-based moistuizers (Biossance, Neutrogena). They tend to hydrate my skin the best. I also hate an oily feeling on my skin. Farmacy changed the game for me. There is such a good balace to imbuing my skin with moisture with out leaving any oily or sticky residue behind. And I wake up with the softest skin. It must be the honey!
Brightland Garlic Olive Oil – I have been using Brightland olive oils (and vinegars and honeys) for over a year now and I have tried a few flavors and made some repurchases. So now I can definitively say that my favorite flavors are
Sheertex Tights – I kept seeing ads for these tights all over TikTok and Instagram. They are meant to be rip-proof and long-lasting. I’ve been wanting to try them for a while, but they were $99 a pop. Definitely pricey for everyday tights. Recently they created a pair for under $30 and I knew this was my chance. So far I have been loving them, with no rips.
The Kings Affection – On of thhe last KDramas I watched took me a year to get through. (It’s Okay Not to be Okay is STILL influencing my style these days.) The reason is that I watch most of my TV when I’m cooking or cleaning or writing posts… This drama only took me about a month. It was my favorite trope of all time, which is a woman pretending to be a man because women aren’t allowed to fight or be in power or go to school. Needless to say, I was hooked quickly. It is a very sweet period piece that gets very good in the 5 episodes. The show is available on Netflix and has 20 hour-long episodes.
